Information about Sandpoint.com

Eric Skinner originally bought the Sandpoint.com domain name in 1998 from a company in Boston, Massachusetts for $1000.00 -  At that time, North Idaho had been displayed by the national media very negatively following the Ruby Ridge case, and Eric had a desire to tell a different story.  After moving from Cape Cod in 1991 to Sandpoint, Eric wanted his family and friends to see the area he lived in as he saw it, not how it had been been seen by the news media.

In January 2000, he partnered with Brent Stevens, a native son of North Idaho to build the company called Sandpoint.com Inc.  With the help of their web designer Ken Lenz, and programming assistance from James Byrd,  Sandpoint.com has grown into the community web site for Sandpoint.  Sandpoint.com is still owned by Eric Skinner & Brent Stevens.

Sandpoint.com has many people to thank for all the great success it has experienced.  First is Ken Lenz, Ken is the digital artist and designer behind Sandpoint.com and the infamous DotComMan. Without his great design work we feel like we would just be another website.  James Byrd has provided much of the very stable programming code for our site.  Anyone who has ever worked with programmers know that not all coders are created equal - James is definitely in a class of his own.   Much of the content for the site has been provided by Mike Ruskey, local historian Bob Gunter, Ryan Skinner and numerous people in the community who have assisted us along the way.

The site has undergone a number of redesigns over the years, but has always featured lots of photographs and information about the area. Eric took many of the photographs used on the site, most notably all of the Aerial Photographs.

We appreciate all the support we have received from the community since day one of this site.  We hope that the visitors of this site find it helpful and rich with information.  We are always looking for new material for the site, so if you would like to be a contributor, please feel free to contact us at
sandpointinfo@sandpoint.com - we gladly take suggestions for new ideas too!
