The Long Bridge Swim is the northwest's premier open water swimming event, and the motto is "Take The Challenge, Take The Plunge!"
Every August, swimmers swim the length of Sandpoint's Long Bridge from the south end to the north end. Safety is important, and anyone considering the swim should know the rules before taking the plunge.
All swimmers must check in and sign a liability release form. Swimmers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign a release of liability form. There will be a pre-swim meeting at 8:00 am. The Long Bridge Swim starts at 9:00 am and has a time limit of 2.5 hours.
Meet at the north end of the Sandpoint Long Bridge. After registration, you will be transported by bus to the south end of the Sandpoint Long Bridge (i.e., the starting area). Storage bags will be furnished for your hats, shirts, etc. and will be transported to Dog Beach / Finish area.
Safety is the number one priority. Qualified safety personnel have the authority to pull any swimmer out of the event for safety reasons. Please wear a wet suit. It will make you safer and swim faster. The swim will proceed in all but lightning and severe wind or cold. Entry fees will not be returned if swim canceled due to weather. Participants wearing fins will not qualify for "Speed" awards.
Stay after the finish for food, music, prizes and lots of fun!
