IF SANDPOINT WEST ATHLETIC CLUB Summer Adventure Camp staff has anything to say about it, you’ll never hear the words, “I’m bored” out of your kids this summer.
With camps running each week from June 16 to August 15, kids ages 10, 11 and 12 get their pick of fun in the sun all summer long. Now in its 15th year, Summer Adventure Camp has provided a safe, positive, and fun experience for an estimated 2,500 youth in Bonner County and surrounding areas. This summer, campers will be able to experience intentional, challenging, and interesting activities with caring and qualified counselors.
Each week offers a new theme such as the following:
The Summer Adventure Camp provides children who are often too old for day care but not old enough to safely stay at home alone during the day, a place to come and have a healthy summer experience.
Camp organizers say parents especially appreciate having a resource like this for their kids. Summer Adventure Camp is also a great place to meet new friends, many campers have positive peer interactions and their friendships grow. Camp organizers say each day kids should be prepared for swimming activities and come with sunscreen, lunch/snacks good shoes, towel and swimwear.
Oh, and no electronic devices, kids – it’s summer camp! The camp and counselors also focus on many of the 40 developmental assets as identified by the Search Institute (https://www.search-institute.org/research/developmental-assets) that help young children grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.
Cost of the camps are $65 per week for day sessions which run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Scholarships are available. Adventure Camp is assisted financially to keep camp costs low by the Community Assistance League, Bonner County Juvenile Probation and the City of Sandpoint.
